Gratitude Day 6: Community

What is a community?  I’m pretty sure we have a general idea of what that word means but, you know me, I looked it up in the dictionary so we can all be on the same page in our understanding.

Community: a group of people living in a particular local area; common ownership; a group of nations having common interests; agreement as to goals.

Psychologist Paul Bloom said, “We are constituted so that simple acts of kindness, such as giving to charity or expressing gratitude, have a positive effect on our long-term moods.  The key to the happy life, it seems, is the good life; a life with sustained relationships, challenging work, and connection to community.

For instance, today my daughter had Living History Day at her school where she helped plan and set up the event to honor Veterans and those who serve our country.  She stayed at school all day until ten o’clock at night then had to turn around and be back at six o’clock in the morning. This is a huge undertaking and a big deal in our community.  The school goes all out.  I suggested my husband take photos because it is truly a sight to see.  It took a numerous amount of people to make it a success.  That’s the power of community

I am grateful to be a part of supportive, uplifting communities of women, mothers, artists, school/PTA, married couples, believers, parents, travelers, sisters/sistahs, business owners.
